David Craig (Wisconsin politician)

David Craig is an American Republican Party politician currently serving in the Wisconsin legislature as the Representative for the 83rd Assembly district.〔'Wisconsin Blue Book 2011-2012,' Biographical Sketch Of David Craig, pg. 75〕
He was elected in a special election held on May 3, 2011 to fill the seat vacated by Scott Gunderson, who had resigned to work as an executive assistant at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.〔(David Craig Elected To The Assembly )〕〔(Dave Craig Kicks Off Campaign in Muskego ), ''Muskego Patch'', February 25, 2011.〕 In announcing his run for office, Craig expressed his concern for the state's financial problems, and affirmed his support of Governor Scott Walker and the streamlining of business regulation, saying, "I appreciate the gravity of where we are fiscally in this state. I believe Scott Walker was elected with a clear mandate to address the state's problems, and I believe that we need to allow business to operate in a unfettered way so we can grow our economy."〔 Craig was endorsed by U.S. Representative Paul Ryan and Muskego mayor John Johnson.〔
Craig announced his bid for re-election in April 2012, saying that in his next term he would continue to work to simplify the state tax code, shrink government, reform state regulations, fight to protect human life at all stages, block ObamaCare and support the Second Amendment.〔(Craig Will Run for Re-election ), ''Muskego Patch'', April 12, 2012.〕
Craig was born in Waukesha, and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1997.〔(Biography ), Representative David Craig, 83rd Assembly District, Wisconsin Legislature website, retrieved October 20, 2012.〕 He attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and earned his Bachelor of Arts in 2002.〔 Craig worked for nine years as a U.S. congressional aide to Ryan out of Ryan's Kenosha office; he was also on the Big Bend village board of trustees from 2008 to 2010.〔
